SCHOOL ASSESSMENT REVIEW TEAM (S.A.R.T. COMMITTEE)

The district program is designed to provide an ongoing system of evaluation of district programs. Parents and staff work together to analyze programs both at the district and school levels. All RiverView Elementary parents are invited to become active participants in the RiverView Elementary SART Committee. The RiverView Elementary SART Committee will convene on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. in the RiverView Elementary Library Media Center.

Each meeting consists of a thematic presentation regarding curricular and/or co-curricular programs at RiverView Elementary Intermediate School, a principal's report and a forum for parents' questions and concerns.

The RiverView Elementary SART Committee provides a parent representative who attends area and district SART meetings and reports back information to the school site committee.

RiverView Elementary PARENT/TEACHER CLUB (P.T.C.)
The RiverView Elementary Parent/Teacher Club is an organization open to all parents. Every parent is encouraged to join and support the school and its functions. It is a proven fact that students of involved parents are more successful in school! A close feeling of partnership prevails between the school and the families it serves which relates directly to the enthusiasm and accomplishments of the RiverView Elementary children.

The Parent/Teacher Club, with its many activities, is an integral part of the total school program. The money earned from the fund-raisers enable the Parent/Teacher Club to purchase needed items or services that are beyond what the district is able to normally provide. We encourage parent volunteers to take an active role. Some of the activities parents can be involved in include:

The Parent/Teacher Club Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month in the school library at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend! If you wish to be included on the agenda call the President one week in advance. Contact Linda Miranda (439-0282)

Joining the RiverView Elementary Parent Teacher Club is just one of the ways to become involved in your child's school years. We celebrate the many talents and experiences you can share and encourage you to get involved. Your time is precious and we offer volunteer opportunities from special one time events to regular weekly commitments. Our PTC raises money, as well as donations of time and materials for the special needs of our school not covered by regular funding. If you can help out or would like to get involved please contact Linda Miranda or attend one of our regular monthly meetings.

Room Parent - Get involved in your child's classroom! A great opportunity to participate in special classroom parties, assist the teacher with classroom activities or the Spring Carnival.

Library Media Center - When you volunteer in the LMC, Mrs. Graves will be delighted to help you to learn about the materials and services our LMC has to offer. From shelving books to maintaining our collection of over 13,000 books, helping out in the library is a great opportunity to share your time with our entire RiverView Elementary family.

Welfare/Community Service - A great opportunity to help our RiverView Elementary community through our holiday outreach program, Coats for Kids and our bi-annual blood drive.

Community of Readers - Do you have 20 minutes a week to listen to a child read? We are looking for volunteers to work with students each week in this very important program. We'll supply the training - you supply the time. The smiles are priceless. Together we make a difference.

Child Safety - Be a friendly face greeting students on their way to and from RiverView Elementary . Join Mr. Ali and a team of volunteer crossing guards keeping our students safe in the crosswalks. Volunteers serve 15 - 20 minute shifts on a regular basis both before and after school.

School Site Council -

Snack Bar - Volunteers keep our snack bar open each Tuesday and Thursday during lunch recess and home athletic games. Join the team for a season or be a regular volunteer!

Hospitality - Help organize and bring goodies for our Staff Recognition and Teacher Day activities.

Winter Wonderland - Be one of Santa's helpers in our annual Winter Wonderland. Make crafts and gather donations of gift items for the gift shop in the Fall or help students shop for that perfect gift in December. It's a great way to get in the holiday spirit.

Movie Night - Get to know your neighbors at our Movie Nights. Ten or more volunteers are needed to sell pizza before the show, staff the concession stand, chaperone and tame the Lions. Movie Night is a great way to enjoy your children and their friends.

Membership - Help kick off our annual PTC Membership Drive. Volunteers are needed to process the paperwork and organize our volunteers.

Spring Carnival - If you can spare a little or a LOT of time we have a place for you at our Spring Carnival in May. Plenty of volunteers are needed to make this annual fund raiser a success.
